The Benefits of OnStar

OnStar has become an incredible safety feature we have all come to know and love.  In most crashes, OnStar's built in system will automatically alert OnStar, even if you can't ask for help.  Driving with OnStar helps you to travel with peace of mind knowing there is a team of people out there watching your back.

But did you know all of the other benefits of having OnStar in your vehicle?  With your OnStar subscription you get a number of features in addition to automatic crash response to make your driving experience safe and stress free!

Emergency 
If you break down on the side of the road just press the OnStar Emergency button and a rep will be waiting on the line to take your call.  They can assist you with getting in contact with nearby services to help you during these difficult situations.

Security  
With OnStar you get Stolen Vehicle Assistance for peace of mind.  This tracking system leads police or licensed motor club carrier services to the exact GPS location of your vehicle.  

Navigation  
Just press the blue OnStar button and ask for directions to your next destination and you will be given turn by turn directions to whatever location you are headed!

Connections 
 Eyes on the road.  Hands on the wheel.  With OnStar you get Bluetooth connectivity so you can stay connected on the road, hands free!

Vehicle Diagnostics 
If your vehicle comes equipped with OnStar you will receive monthly vehicle diagnostics to let you know the health of your vehicle.  You will also receive notifications when you are due for your next oil change, tire rotation, etc., and alerts if anything in your vehicle needs attention, like low tire pressure.

OnStar App 
If your vehicle comes equipped with OnStar you can pair it with your phone using the OnStar app so you can start, lock, or unlock your car from anywhere.  That's right, I said anywhere!  You can also check your oil, tire pressure, and gas using the OnStar app.  How cool is that!  Check it out:

Even if your vehicle does not come equipped with OnStar, you can purchase the OnStar mirror for any vehicle!  It is a great investment and with all of the perks, well worth the money!

5 Steps to Buying a Used Car

Purchasing a pre-owned vehicle is a great option if you are looking to save money, but many people are afraid of buying used because they don't know how to search for one. At Scranton Motors we are dedicated to making your car buying experience as easy as possible, so we have created this guide for you: 5 Steps to Buying a Used Car! 

Here is some insider advice, so that you make the best decision when purchasing your pre-owned car!

1. Does it meet my needs?
The first step in buying a pre-owned vehicle is ensuring it meets your needs.  Ask yourself:

• What do I use my vehicle for? 
• If you have 5 kids, that 2 door coupe you've been eyeing may not be the best option
• How many miles do I drive?
• If you only use your car to drive a couple minutes down the road to work, a vehicle with 100,000 miles on it could be a great option for you!  Pre-owned vehicles are lasting longer than ever!
• If you do a lot of traveling for work, you may want to consider a lower mileage vehicle 
• Consider GAS MILEAGE as well!  If fuel efficiency is important to you, research the gas mileage of the vehicle by checking out www.fueleconomy.gov

Before digging any deeper in your used car search, make sure the vehicle is the right one for you!

2. Check Warranty
Most people don't realize, but many times pre-owned vehicles still have a remainder of the factory warranty still available!  Research the manufacturer's warranty and see if there is still warranty left on your vehicle.

IF NOT, most dealerships offer extended warranties you can purchase with your pre-owned vehicle, we certainly do!  PROTECT YOURSELF and purchase a warranty, this will save you a lot of worry and hassle if anything does go awry in the future!

ASK ABOUT CERTIFICATION!  Automotive manufacturers take their late-model vehicles, put them through a rigorous inspection, and attach an extended warranty automatically. Certified vehicles offer new car benefits at a used car price!

3. Vehicle History
It is important to CHECK THE VEHICLE HISTORY REPORT!  This is the only way you can make sure the car you are purchasing doesn't have any major issues.

Some Red Flags to look out for:

• Major Accident Reported 
• Don't be wary of all accidents, minor fender benders show up on vehicle history reports too
• Odometer roll backs
• Make sure your vehicle has the correct mileage reported 
• Vehicle Use
• Do you mind if the vehicle was a rental or registered as a commercial vehicle?

4. Research Price
Make sure the asking price for the car is fair by doing your research.  Take a look at great resources like Kelly Blue Book to find out what the average selling price for the vehicle is.  Print out what you find and bring it down to the dealership for negotiations.  

*REMEMBER, when researching the price, make sure you consider all the options the vehicle has!  Is it leather?  Does it have navigation?  Does it have a sunroof?  These are all important factors that will impact price!

Location also impacts price!  Is this car hard to come by in your area?  Is it a special edition?  If so, the price may be higher because of the market value!  

5. You bought it from who?!
Make sure you know your seller!  Are you purchasing your vehicle from a trusted seller?  If purchasing from a private seller, be sure to bring the vehicle to a mechanic for an inspection.

2013 Cadillac XTS CUE System

State of the Art Meets High Art: The All New 2013 Cadillac XTS

Last month we received our first 2013 Cadillac XTS and we were amazed!  The all new XTS is an incredible addition to the Cadillac family.  Not only does it have the sleek, luxurious style that all our Cadillacs have to offer, but the advances in technology are mind blowing!

Safety in mind, the new Cadillac XTS also comes with the optional innovative Driver Awareness and Assistance Package.  The seats vibrate to warn you if you are in danger of an accident.  It has been proven that this "tap on the shoulder" is the best way to catch a driver's attention for a quick response, far more effective than those loud annoying beeps.
